Our team has a special place in our hearts for the community of Kpevenu-Tsati and the struggles they face in finding clean drinking water.
Move Africa was first introduced to this community in 2015. During that visit, one of the team’s goals was to teach about the dangers of contaminated drinking water and simple ways to make it safer. The community was given Sawyer water filters, and we were able to show families how to use them to help protect their health.
In 2018, another team returned with a strong desire to see a well drilled so the community could have a reliable source of clean water. Two attempts were made in different locations, but unfortunately both were unsuccessful.
Then in 2020, after continued prayer and effort, another attempt was made—and this time a well was successfully drilled. It was a great blessing for the community.
When a team visited again in 2024, we discovered the well pump was no longer working. Sadly, the people had returned to using their old water hole. After inspecting the pump, one of our team members found that the pump chain had broken. With several men from the community watching, he was able to make a temporary repair so the well could function again.
This March, when we returned to Kpevenu-Tsati, we were saddened to find the pump once again not working and the community once more without safe water. After a well contractor inspected the pump, we were told it is no longer repairable and must be completely replaced.
Our team has returned home with a deep burden on our hearts to see this water need resolved.
