SPONSOR THE GOSPEL

“This is what the lord of Heaven’s Armies says: The people are saying, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the Lord.’”………. Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of God’s people began to obey the message from the Lord their God. When they heard the words of the prophet Haggai, whom the lord their God had sent, the people feared the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave the people this message from the Lord: “I am with you, says the Lord!” Haggai 1:2-13

God knows that he wouldn’t be raining money into the wallets of his children just because they are his children. Hence he ordains his children to work.

He gives promises to bless the work of our hands. “The LORD shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you set your hand unto” – Deuteronomy 28:8. Why should God want you to work?

First, he wants you his child to give to support any ongoing work in his kingdom. “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that give it willingly with his heart you shall take my offering” – Exodus 25:2.

He doesn’t just demand an offering. It must come from a willing heart. What was the offering meant for? “And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them” – Exodus 25:8.

Do we need such offerings today? Yes! As long as temples are built, God will raise offerings from his children. Look at something that will shock you. “The glory of Lebanon shall come unto you, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious” – Isaiah 60:13.

God wants to make the place of his feet (not his head) glorious. For this he causes his children to offer different kinds of lumber. In Haggai’s time, when they failed to support the building of the sanctuary, he withdrew his blessings from them.

When they obeyed God and brought their offerings, God gave them assurance of blessing them profusely. “And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of hosts” – Haggai 2:7-8.

LET’S PRAY
